Atmel AVR ONE! has been selected for the "Editor's Choice" AND "Readers' Choice" in eg3.com's first "Tech Choice" awards, category Embedded Tools
The AVR® ONE! is a powerful development tool for on-chip debugging and programming of all AVR32 devices. In the future AVR ONE! will also support all AVR devices. It supports debug interfaces including JTAG (IEEE 1149.1), debugWire, PDI and the Nexus (IEEE-ISTO 5001(TM)-2003) auxiliary interface for high-speed trace. It supports programming ISP, JTAG and PDI interfaces. AVR ONE! interfaces with AVR32 Studio. AVR ONE! is available at US$599 only while similar tools usually cost thousands of dollars. The AVR ONE! speeds up programming and supports non-intrusive observation and logging of how the embedded system performs. This allows the software engineer a clear view of real time system behavior, without affecting or modifying the real time characteristics of the microcontroller.

AVR USB 2.4GHz Wireless Reference Design for Battery-based PC Peripherals
Atmel Corporation announced the ATAVRUSBRF01 reference design for development with AVR® microcontrollers in the un-licensed 2.4 GHz ISM band and connection to PCs with USB. The AVRUSBRF01 enables the PC-Wireless connectivity using AVR USB microcontrollers. Designers can then develop battery-based, wireless peripheral applications using Atmel's 1.8V picoPower™ AVR microcontrollers that feature industry-best low power consumption. By using the same architecture and development platform for a complete project, designers can concentrate on endproduct optimization and get to the market faster. More Info |

AT91SAM9G20 ARM9-based Microcontroller Offers Twice the Speed with Half the Power Consumption of Pin-compatible AT91SAM9260
Atmel's recently-released AT91SAM9G20 ARM926EJ-S?-based embedded microprocessor draws only 80 mW in full-power mode (400 MHz) with all peripherals turned on. This is half the power consumption of the pin-compatible 200 MHz AT91SAM9260. The AT91SAM9G20 also offers four times the cache and on-chip SRAM memory and features improved error correction for external NAND Flash as well as an enlarged Ethernet FIFO that improves latency compared with its predecessor. It is targeted at power-constrained applications that also need high performance, including point-of-sale terminals, building automation, security cameras and bar code readers.
The AT91SAM9G20 offers a wide choice of operating systems, with support for Microsoft® Windows CE®, .NET MF and Linux®, as well as a number of real-time operating systems (RTOS) and middleware products from industry-leading third parties including Adeneo®, IAR®, Keil™, Mentor Graphics®, Micrium, Segger and TimeSys®.
