Atmel®'s automotive electronic efforts are not only focused on large complex electronic systems, but also on smaller independent applications. Building on Atmel's 20 years experience in automotive electronic designs, it offers a wide range of uniquely tailored stand-alone solutions.

Atmel's PWM high-side driver provides an economical solution for an electronic dashboard dimmer in the power-range of 20 to 70W. Timer ICs, optimized for power-saving applications where high wattage loads are operated for a certain time only and subsequently switched off, are also available.

Electronic flashers with lamp-outage detection are standard in all new vehicles. Atmel, a market leader in this area, provides a large product portfolio of dedicated flasher devices that meet manufacturer requirements for direction indication and hazard warning.

Control of the brake lights and the less noticeable lighting functions such as parking lights, license plate lights, and backup lights is often problematic; however, Atmel®'s solution, using lamp-monitoring devices enables reliable display of malfunctions even when the vehicle is in motion.
